Why detox?
This may be the first question you hear, many people see a detox as a negative – almost like a punishment so we need to look at the reasons why it’s beneficial.
Think of our lifestyles and where we live.
We are under constant assault from toxins; whether this is from our diet, environment, lifestyle, emotions or just from life. Often we cannot get rid of these toxins fast enough, when they build up our body cannot function at its peak ability.
Detox is simply a process of removing toxins from the body to allow recovery.
How do I know if I need to detox?
You could be experiencing anything ranging from emotional ups and downs, headaches, poor sleep,
menstrual problems, skin problems, joint and muscle pains, digestive upsets, bloating, poor energy levels, poor mental clarity, lowered immunity etc.
Many people find a yearly detox keeps them fit, well and happy with benefits lasting throughout the year, you may find the results get better each year.

How long should I detox?
You’re less likely to experience the side effects of a detox if you prepare the body first and detox slowly, this is because the liver and other organs of detoxification can better cope with the extra burden being placed on them if it’s not over one intense period.
You will also find the whole experience more enjoyable and be more likely to continue with your healthy lifestyle afterwards.
What symptoms might I have?
Hopefully none! But it could be anything like headaches, nausea, emotional turmoil, upset digestion, colds, lethargy, poor concentration, irritability, skin problems etc.
When shouldn’t I detox?
Don’t detox if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding as your body needs all its nutrients, if you’re on medication seek professional guidance through a qualified naturopath after first checking with your GP.
