Whatever your theme for the week is, make sure it's one that inspires you

Change your life – What’s your theme?

2 June, 2014

Every now and again I will ask my clients to identify a ‘theme’ for themselves – something they would like to focus their attention on in the weeks to come.

The key is to choose a theme that will inspire you to think more positively about something – or help you to focus on changes you would like to make.

Here are some real examples of themes that people have chosen:

“Put myself first”

“If it isn’t fun, don’t do it!”

“Look smart”

“Delegate, delegate, delegate”

“Leave early for all appointments”

“Live in the moment”

What would you like your theme to be for the next week?

“The man least dependant upon the morrow goes to meet the morrow most cheerfully.” — Epicurus

Choose something that you’d like to focus on in the next seven days that will really make a difference to your life. Write your theme on post-its and scatter them strategically around your home or office – where you will notice them frequently.

When our heads are all too often crammed with mental ‘to do’ lists, this exercise can really help to act as a conscious reminder to focus on something positive.
