Change your life: Tolerations

11 August, 2014

What are you ‘tolerating’ in your life? In other words, what are you putting up with? And how much is that draining your energy?

‘Tolerations’ are those things that irritate and frustrate you – they make you sigh each time you think of them – your heart sinks and you can almost feel the energy being sapped from you. You know you need to sort them out, but somehow they keep being dropped to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list.

Tolerations could be:

  • the button that needs sewing onto your favourite shirt
  • filthy car
  • cluttered desk
  • broken microwave
  • front door that needs painting
  • overdue letter or conversation

They may seem insignificant, but even the smallest things can build up to the point where they have an adverse impact on our energy levels.

“Everything changes when you change” — Jim Rohn
So it’s important to become aware of , tolerations’ and eliminate them on a regular basis. Here’s how to do it:

Step One:

Make a list of everything in your life that you’re currently tolerating – big and small.

Step Two:

Pick FIVE and handle them in the next week – just get rid of them – in whatever way you choose.

Step Three:

I keep working through the list until all the items have been eliminated. It will make a huge difference, and will free up lots of energy for more positive pursuits.

Note: Repeat this exercise every 3-4 months.
